On February 16, the eXXperimenta women's science fair was held at the Ourense Campus, which aims to inspire female vocations in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by conducting experiments with attendees, featuring female scientists and technologists from the campus. In the morning, more than 300 students from eight schools in the province of Ourense and surrounding areas took part. In the afternoon, the fair was open to the general public.
The fair featured 14 stands with visual and hands-on scientific activities showcasing aspects of the research carried out in the different STEM areas on campus. In particular, the computer science experiments included work with virtual reality glasses and programming with Scratch. Both the general organization of the fair and the computer science experiments were carried out with the collaboration of the chair through Professor Alma Gómez, its director.
