Virginia Mato Abad, a computer scientist and co-director of the ALDABA-WIB Chair, shared in an interview with La Voz de Galicia on December 26, 2022, what is happening with women’s presence in ICT degree programs. In the interview, she emphasized that “We must prevent women from being left out of this progress.”

It’s not a matter of percentages or quotas, but of exclusion in a labor market with a present and a future. Women make up just 12% of students in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) degree programs. This is confirmed by the latest Barometer of the Gender Gap in ICT Studies, prepared by the Aldaba-WIB Chair at the Universities of A Coruña and Vigo.
