The Aldaba-WIB Chair presented one of the awards at the VI XoveTIC Congress, held on October 5 and 6 at CITIC, which brought together researchers from Galicia and Portugal in the city. The event seeks to highlight the talent of new generations of researchers in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.

The Aldaba-WIB Chair award was given to computer scientist Hilda Romero, who won the prize for the most relevant work led by a female lead author for her work “Indexing and Retrieval of Sheet Music by Humming Based on Extracted Characteristics.” Hilda Romero's work seeks to respond to a need felt by many musicians: to find a song quickly by simply humming or playing an instrument. Based on the work collected in the Folkoteca Galega, Hilda and her team made calculations with the melodies using computer techniques with which they have managed to index the scores and establish a relationship with the audio.
