To commemorate International Women's Day, the City Council of A Coruña has scheduled more than 20 activities to be held throughout the month of March under the slogan “Mulleres, liderando o cambio” (Women, leading change). These activities include cinema, theater, talks, workshops, educational activities, and sports. In 2025, the City Council is making a firm commitment to highlight women in leadership positions within these activities, especially in sectors traditionally occupied by men.
As part of this program, on Friday, March 14, at 10:15 a.m., the University Auditorium will host “Conversa: Mulleres CTEM en acción” (Conversation: Women in STEM in Action), a conversation aimed at secondary and high school students from City Council schools, with the participation of experts such as Déborah García Bello, science communicator; Ana Freire, specialist in Artificial Intelligence applied to mental health; and Virginia Mato, director of the Aldaba-WIB Chair. The main objective of the activity will be to highlight the role of women in STEM disciplines, emphasizing their achievements and contributions, with the aim of inspiring scientific and technological vocations, especially among girls.
